Dear Members:
As you are aware, the new regulations for corporate credit unions (NCUA Rules and Regulations, Part 704) were released in September, and have now been officially entered into the Federal Register. While the final product was largely what was expected, and we were pleased to see the NCUA responded to the many comments letters from, and discussions with, credit unions and corporates for the past several months in crafting a long-term map for corporates and their members. Double-check your coin & currency orders for upcoming holidays
As the holiday season approaches, remember to be attentive to your cash ordering and delivery procedures. Since Christmas and New Year's Day both fall on a Saturday this year, be sure to avoid cash shortages by checking your delivery dates during these weeks or by ordering enough cash ahead of time. |

Social Security Number suppression in federal ACH payments
Change implemented to further protect consumers receiving federal payments
The Department of the Treasury, Financial Management Service (FMS), recently put measures into place to further protect the identifying information found in federal government ACH payments. Effective November 2010, Treasury began a phased-in strategy to suppress Social Security Numbers (SSN) in federal government ACH payments. READ MORE + |

Account alerts are an effective way to help your members avoid overdraft or late payment fees, provide bill payment reminders and/or prevent identity theft. | The National Bureau of Economic Research, the unofficial arbiter of when business cycles begin and end, recently declared that the Great Recession ended in June 2009. To John and Jane Q Public, however, the announcement must have seemed like a fairy tale, one concocted in the ivory tower by academics with little connection to the reality of everyday life. While the economy may have technically turned the corner more than a year ago, it has barely recaptured a fraction of the huge losses endured during the 2007-2009 downturn, which was both the deepest and longest since the 1930s. Unemployment remains intolerably high, homes are languishing amidst a weak sales market and an intractable overhang of foreclosed properties, a big chunk of commercial and industrial capacity sits idle, thwarting investment spending, and households are desperately striving to repair balance sheets wrought asunder by the financial crisis, putting off spending... + READ MORE |
