It’s peak college loan season

Start offering Smart Option Student Loans to your members; updated Web content available for participants

Attn: Sallie Mae Participants
Keep your members informed of the Sallie Mae Smart Option private student loan options with updated Web content

Since credit unions typically see more Web traffic and more inquiries on private student loans over the next three months than they will for the rest of the year, keeping your members informed on the options they have with you is especially important during this time of year. That's why Sallie Mae has created simple, easy to read, completely compliant Web content that you can host on your site. This content can be placed on any relevant page within your domain. If you currently host content, you should use the newly approved language going forward. If you don't have your Sallie Mae information placed prominently on your site, now's the time to do so.

The updated content as well as other useful tools, including new banners and Web tiles, can be found in your marketing portal at Please let us know if there are any questions or concerns.

July 22, 2014 -- May through September is peak student loan time. With the fall semester just around the corner, students will be applying for loans to help fund their college education. If your credit union is not currently offering a student loan option, then what better time than now to consider the Sallie Mae Smart Option Student Loan program? The program is turn-key, provided through Corporate One at no cost to our members and is a great way to attract younger members to your credit union.

The program works like this: Your credit union signs onto the program through Corporate One, and you are then handed over to your Sallie Mae representative, who will provide you a host of marketing materials, including a unique link to post on your Web site, which will serve as the main referral point from your credit union to Sallie Mae. This link will take your member to a Web page where they can learn more about the loan options and/or complete a loan application. The program allows credit unions to earn fee income when their members receive a loan funded by Sallie Mae. And there is no added credit risk as Sallie Mae underwrites and services all loans.
