Melissa Ashley

President/CEO, Corporate One FCU

A visionary and steadfast leader, Melissa is a strategic driver of growth in her role as president and CEO at Corporate One. Melissa joined Corporate One in 1999. During her time with the organization, she has served in various roles, including controller, vice president of finance, and executive vice president/chief financial officer. Melissa became Corporate One’s president and CEO in 2018. Prior to Corporate One, Melissa worked at a Big Four accounting firm. She has a bachelor’s degree in accounting with a minor in computer science from The Ohio State University. She has also achieved the Certified Chief Executive designation from the Credit Union Executive Society (CUES) and is a certified public accountant in the state of Ohio.

Nicole DeRogatis

Marketing Professional & Educator, K4 Architecture + Design

Nicole has been working in marketing and branding since the year 2000 when she first got her start in the industry selling newspaper display ads. She’s been able to experience digital transformation firsthand, especially in the rapidly evolving marketing and branding realms. Nicole has been in every position of the traditional marketing department from marketing coordinator to manager, to director, professor, and finally to Chief Marketing Officer – oftentimes a one-woman show fulfilling multiple roles. Nicole excels in building in-house marketing departments and spearheading rebranding or brand consistency audits and efforts. Her strengths are in relationship building and securing the right partners to successfully manage the team, department goals and projects. In addition to serving as CMO for K4, Nicole has been teaching collegiate-level marketing courses in the evenings for the last 11 years.




Kirk Drake

Author & Founder of CU 2.0

Kirk is a lifelong entrepreneur, author, and founder of Credit Union 2.0. He is a credit union and technology enthusiast who built ten successful businesses, notably the Credit Union Service Organization (CUSO) Ongoing Operations, CU Wallet – a mobile wallet venture, Resistance Wine Company, Credit Union 2.0, Loanify, and several additional lifestyle e-commerce/mobile platforms. Kirk is the author of Credit Union 2.0: A Guide to Helping Credit Unions Compete in the Digital Age and Financial – Artificial Intelligence for banks and credit unions. Credit Union 2.0’s mastermind groups bring together the best and brightest from credit unions and fintech companies to disrupt the banking world.




Geoff Johnson

Chief Executive Officer, CU*Answers

Geoff brings a wealth of practical lending experience and industry knowledge to the table with 16 years in credit union leadership roles that oversaw the strategic direction of lending and sales. He is also a key partner and advocate of the cuasterisk.com network of credit union service organizations. He currently serves as a board member of Xtend, a shared resources and consulting services CUSO, and eDOC Innovations, a nationwide leader in mobile enterprise digital transaction management (mDTM®) software. Geoff also serves on the CU Outdoors Board of Directors. Since joining CU*Answers in 2005, Geoff has worked closely in the growth and development of the Management Services teams, including Earnings Edge, Lender*VP, AuditLink, Web Services, SettleMINT, and Imaging Solutions.




Jeff Klump

President/Principal, K4 Architecture + Design

Jeff Klump is President, Principal and Founder of K4 Architecture + Design in Cincinnati, OH. As the founding member of the K4 companies, Jeff`s knowledge of the entire built environment process, experience in the management of prototype roll-out programs, and commitment to serving clients has led to the integrated, total design solutions company that is K4 today. Jeff has 30+ years of comprehensive architectural, and program and construction management experience specializing in financial markets and retail development, with more than 2,500 financial projects. Jeff holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Cincinnati.




Steve Rick

Director & Chief Economist, TruStage

Steve's primary responsibilities include conducting strategic research, analysis and forecasting of the financial services industry, with special emphasis on the consumer and credit union markets. His forecasts serve as a starting point for the strategic planning process and help to create a clear understanding of the underlying trends and links between the general economy, the financial services industry, and the company’s policy owners. He publishes the Credit Union Trends Report, a monthly “pulse check” on the economic state of the credit union movement, and has authored a textbook on asset-liability management for credit union executives. Steve brings 22 years of experience in economics and statistics, and also serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the University of Wisconsin Credit Union, a $5 billion financial institution. Additionally, he holds a senior lecturer position with the economics department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, is the facilitator and instructor for CUNA Management School’s Stanford Bank Game, and has two years’ experience as a bank simulation advisor for the Prochnow Graduate School of Banking. Rick has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Moorhead State University, a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Moorhead University, and a Master of Science in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He also obtained a Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.




Scott Runyan, CPA

Director, Assurance & Business Advisory Services, GBQ

Scott began his public accounting career as an auditor, and spent the first 17 years of his career serving companies in several industries, including manufacturing, distribution and service. Over the past 12 years and continuing today, Scott leads GBQ’s Financial Institutions Services practice. Recognized as a leading provider of services to credit unions and ranked in the top 15 nationally, his team specializes in providing financial institutions with several services, including audits, outsourcing internal audits, compliance, and merger consulting. He regularly participates in speaking engagements related to technical accounting topics. He is also the recipient of several internal client service and managerial awards at GBQ. Scott received his Bachelor's degree in accounting from The Ohio State University.




Tom Sakash

Manager, Small Credit Union Initiatives, CUNA

In his work leading small credit union support services for the national trade association, Tom strives to identify and communicate the opportunities small credit unions can leverage to succeed in the financial services marketplace today. He is CUNA’s liaison to the CUNA Small Credit Union Committee, is a Board member for Madison Credit Union, a small credit union in Madison, Wisconsin, and has led or directly supported multiple efforts to establish collaborative partnerships between credit unions across the country.




Michael Stultz

Managing Partner, Stultz & Stephan, Ltd.

Michael focuses his practice on lender-liability defense, high-stakes litigation, and contested bankruptcy matters for Ohio’s financial institutions. In addition to his litigation practice, Michael represents financial institutions in complex loan workouts, employment matters, contract review and vendor management, and loan-document preparation. He also has experience in a wide array of business transactions, including mergers, acquisitions of business assets, and the resolution of shareholder disputes.
