Did You Know? Fun Facts About ACH

ACH is more than 50 years old! The ACH network was established in the early 1970slong before mobile phones or social media existed. It’s been quietly powering payments for over 50 years.

ACH serves billions (literally). In 2024 alone, the ACH network processed over 31 billion payments, moving more than $80 trillionThat’s more than the GDP of most countries.

ACH fights fraud. Despite handling trillions of dollars, ACH has one of the lowest fraud rates among payment systems, thanks to its strict rules and continuous updates, such as those covered in our 2025 webinar.

It’s not just for payroll. While many think of ACH solely for direct deposit, it also handles transactions such as mortgage payments, utility bills, peer-to-peer transfers, and even business-to-business transactions.

Same Day ACH is speedy. Introduced in 2016, Same Day ACH allows payments to settle in hours instead of days—a game-changer for businesses and consumers alike.
